August 27th Letter

Hola Familia,
My last letter from the MTC!!! how exciting!! Your child is headed to Chile, Monday morning bright and early. All I can say about this week is that I have been so so stress yep what a surprise. I have had the worse anxiety about getting ready to leave the MTC . I am feeling a little bit better but it is still in my mind and I am still a little nervous. However with a lot of prayer and faith I know that I will be fine and luckily I am with all my Hermanas so that is nice. Um not to much exciting happened this week. We only had one mock lesson which was really sad cause I prepared really hard for my lessons and then we didn't have any. Um I went to visit the outside world to an opathmalgoist so that was cool . I got to see cars and people in regular clothes, Hermana Butler and I were in shock the whole time it was pretty funny. The doctor said my eye is perfectly fine so that made me feel better. Um thanks so much for my shoes and the bread all the girls loved it. I wasn't able to write yesterday cause we had infield orientation; which is were they prepare us a little more for the outside world and show us how our first time in the field is going to be. Um so yeah I did three full days of total Spanish speaking or making noise and hand gestures to try to create the word and it was good. I feel more confident because I realize I know all the main words to create sentences and such. I memorized the first vision so that was hard but is so nice to know . Hermana Mapa helped me, she is amazing I am so so grateful for her always helping me and her personality and love that she gives me. We hosted again on Wed which was nice not too many girls came but It was nice to be outside and talk with the sisters in other districts. On Martes I was able to play vball with our second new district , it was legit. I was hitting hecka hard and digging all over it was the best game ever. We tried it again miercoles but that wasn't as successful. However i am super glad to have had that one game. We didn't have any general authority speak however we had tons of great devotionals which the last one was on success and how it come from ourselves. What ever we put into life is what life will give us. It is up to me to concord the challenges I receive our to stop and let them effect me. I learned a lot about the kind of missionary I want to be in the field. I want to be the most optimistic and the missionary that everyone in the ward can count on. I am grateful for all that I learned here and can't wait to take it to chile with me. Don't send any more dearelders or mail to the mtc cause I will not receive everything closes at 2 here how lame huh. I sent 4 boxes to the post mart at 2250n. Uni av. Provo. So they will be calling you Mommy,to pick them up for free after 2 business days it cost 2 for each box so dont forget. Two are under Mrs. Burnett cause Butler filled them out :)

August 19th Letter

Hola familia,

So to start my p-day off I got something in my eye  last night after washing my face and my  eye was still red in the morning so i headed to the doctor and she couldnt get the thing out so we got to leave the mtc to the outside world and visit a doctor who told me that my cornea is scratch . He gave me some medicine to stop me from blinking but after a while it was making it worse so now I am wearing an eye patch. Yep I look like a real pirate, so hopefully it will be better by the 29 which is the day we head to the airport!! we leave here at 6 our flight is at 9:40am to LAX and then to Santiago  we arrive at 6:35 am and then another flight to Antofagasta. Yep a way long flight. Luckily our whole district is on the same flight. :)  Um so something new for this week is we got to host on Weds. and welcomed alll the new Sister missionaries it was super nice cause we got out of class and the same old routine.  Our district has been doing well with speaking spanish during and class and through out the day so that makes it more easy for me to have the desire. We got to new mock investigators and Juan and Arnold and they both feel so real to me. I wanted to buy a card for Juan yesterday thinking it would help him feel better  because our lesson went so well. I think with us being so close to leaving is a reason they feel real. Hermana Butler got me to sing in choir this week and I did. the main  reason i didn't want too is because they do close ups of choir and I didn't want to be on tv. Nope that plan didn't work because after the fireside everyone was like hey say you on the tv Hermana Burnett. Yeah no bueno. Im doing good here trying to endure to the end with spanish and patience and love for everyone.
Ah great story from the fireside was about an Elder Kim was in Japan and didnt know the language very well even though he was Japnaese desedent, everyone always thought he could speak so they turn to him first. He was struggling hard and kept pushing through  his mission. towards the end he was called the zone leader and receive the promise of one more baptism before the end of his mission. He finishes he mission with no baptism and is very sad when exits the plane. the elder came from a home with active member and non member father. As he was unpacking his items he had his journal on top and his father saw the way he was admiring the journal. The dad walked and and said" son what do I have to do for you to baptism me still as a missionary". the elder then baptized his father a week later. Crazy huh how god keeps his promises and works in mysteries ways.

shoes mom??? anything I leave in 10 DAYS~!!! AND REALLY COULD USE THEM.  oh and my csun sweatshirt:) thanks  i'll be sending a package home with my temple clothes and thinggs that are too heavy.

sorry if this is weird i typed it with one eye literally!!

love you all

August 11th Letter

HOLA FAMILIA,

So this week has been up and down and all over the place, I think one reason is because one of our districts left our zone and they were all super nice to me and made the MTC more fun. Anyways, The devotionals were good this week one was really short and was just getting to the highlights about being a good example and then ended 15 mins early everyone was surprised, no worries though the prayer made up for it it was 15 mins no lie.  Domingo was nice so many of the oldest district shared their testimonies and even a few got teary eyed. I love how the spirit here allows the Elders to show their real feelings. That evening I shared with Hermana Butler about our family and she feels now that she understands me better so that is good. Hermano Vergdugo shared with us the importance of listening to the Spirit and had us watch a clip by Bedner which was amazing. He said that we need to stop worrying about spirit  in our lessons, that if we keep the commandments and our obedient and do all the things the Lord ask of us then the spirit will always be there. I believe that to be sooooo true when I just do my part for lessons, talks or service the spirit always finds it way in to my words and everything goes well.  I asked Hermana Butler if we could only play one song on the piano and then go look for Janae cause she arrived this wed. She said okay and as we were looking for a piano they were all taken so we head outside and guess who I see right outside the doors ? Sister Mortensen!!! How crazy is that I screamed so LOUD no joke !! It was so nice to see some one that you have known forever!! I'm so glad that happen cause I have seen her since. Its all about being obedient!!
We didn't have to move this week lucky us and hopefully not till we leave.  Um that is about all the exciting new spanish is my new language so I try to think of the word first and sometimes look dumb trying to find the word but it is what I need to do caue I am out of here in 2 weeks crazy huh!! Time is flying by soooooo fast. Probably not for you haha sorry. I 'm having fun though :)

Love you and sorry short but nothing exciting I promise and plus you each get a letter too!!

August 6th Letter

Hola familia!!!

Como le va? I'm doing great here and miss you all tons!! This week we had two great devotionals on Charity and Faith. I learned so much from the charity one by  Bro. Swensen, he told us it is so important to have charity the whole time of our mission and that if i ask for charity then I will receive it . Another quote he gave was  " God focus  his love on every little thing we do because it matters to us, so it matters to him" how true is that. Its the same concept of you mom and dad loving every little accomplish that I have had in my life.  Bro. Swensen also mentioned that " There is no limit on God's love, therefore there should be no limit on our love" how neat and forward it that quote. The last quote that I enjoyed from him states" Charity is a commandment" "Don't hold back love, you can NEVER run out of LOVE.!! This speaker was really good. The speaker on Tuesday was  Elder Lund which both of these our retired seventies.  Elder Lund talked about faith and how its a process not an event . He showed pictures and shared with us how we all have different types of gates blocking our hearts and as missionaries we will run into all these different investigators with their hearts blocked. We need to have faith that we can get them to open their hearts unto us or even allow us just to be their friend. As missionaries we are heart surgeons and we need to learn how to soften people's heart. Which I believe us Hermanas can do better :)
So every Sunday we have to prepare a 3-5 min talk and this week I did just like I have been, except for this week I didn't feel really confident in it. However my Branch President Larson didn't agree he decided to call three speakers this week which is one more then usual and I happened to be the bonus speaker. Yeah me and speaking in sacrament still is no good. My farewell is the only talk in which i was confident and not shaking the whole time. Anyways I got and did the best I could and spoke about the Espiritu Santo and how it has blessed my life.  That evening I got all the Battlecreek missionaries and took pictures so i will be sending that home soon. So this Monday my vball district left to Mexico which is super sad and our oldest district is leaving this Monday which is sad also because I have become close  friends with them all. :( We had a little district family home evening playing this game called signs with BOM heroes which was fun and relaxing. We moved Tuesday morning down to the second floor and it was a lot easier this time cause Hermana Low went and asked some elders to help, so when I opened the door I saw 10 elders waiting to help which was super nice. The elders here a funny 19 years old guys but can be such gentlemen so many of them run to open the doors for us or stick their arm out and wait for us even if were still far behind them.   I went to the dentist  because my gum was purple and I was worried it was bad but he said food probably just got  in the cut and started to react to it.  Um I received a nice package from the pattons full of cookies and brownies and then you mom and  my whole district was so jealous. Mail here is a contest daily we all get jealous when some get a package. Mom I need grandpa berry  and lisa's address and check my account I used my credit card for something and did you here about my shoes?

Love you all thanks for the emails and letters
