July 30th Letter

Hey Family and Friends.

 How is everyone doing ?!!! I hope that everything is going great for you all.. Chile is great 

it´s starting to get a little cold right now but no worries nothing as cold as Utah.. So this week was the last of cambios .. And so we worked extra hard to find new people to teach and to try to do all we could to build the relationship of the members here. We  went knocking one day and knocked literally 30 doors before some one let us in.. And we were introducing ourselves to her all excited cause she was super nice . When she finally mentions that she is a member but just hadn't  attend church in years.. However she has 3 daughters that she would love us to teach and to help her attend church again..  It was so great so we are working with this family to all become members which is my favor thing to do in the mission. We finally found Nidia again our great Colombian investigator.. She is now about to complete Mosiah and has found an answer from God that she needs to be baptized.!! How great is that .. She´s worried about letting go of her Sunday job but she is putting her trust in the lord and is going to attend church again.. It was so neat to see how much she is reading and how she is enjoying the book of Mormon.. We didn't have many people at our ward activity the other day but the families that went learned a lot about Jose Smith as we watched his life movie..  I love Chañarcillo the Bishop and is family are great and are so giving and humble and really do all they can to help the members here.. They are true members of this Gospel and such a great example for the ward..

 CAMBIOS......We received a phone call last night... and  I am STAYING!!! wohoo no packing, however VanMeter is leaving.. Which is no surprise because i change something every cambio.. So Hermana........ Canto is coming to be my companion.. Yep Again... crazy huh.. So I will be terminated her cause this is her last sector..

July 23rd Letter

Hi Familia and Amigos!!!!

 Hey so this week went pretty well we had a lot of different appointments and found some new MA people to work with . However with it being  vacation here we had  no one at church only 46 people it was so sad. And out of all the people we visited only 5 or so went to church and  many didn't go because they were too lazy. it was a sad Sunday.. We are trying so hard to build up the ward and go out of our way to visit them and just love them to an annoying point trying to get them at church and it didn't work so now we are trying another way and that is to be more stern and direct.. no more love from hermanas of chañarcillo.. anyways we love working together.. and are putting together fetch's for agosto... :) Our fetch for this month fell so we won´t be baptizing anyone this month which is sad but happens.. We have some great investigators that we will definitely baptize next month.. Side note we went to a gym last week and i was able to lift weights and do squats and run on the treadmill !! I felt like a little kid in a Candy store. And today we cleaned and then decide to run to the montaña with this big cross and take some pictures so hopefully you all love them!! .

July 16th Letter

Hola Familia,

This week was a tough one. We only found two new people teach and our investigator with a baptism date didn’t show up for church yesterday that was sad.. However we had a GREAT married couple investigators show up to  church all dress in the regular church attire with a suit and everything. They  are so sweet and have so much great knowledge of the Bible and they already agree with every thing  we have been teaching.  After sacrament meeting ended we had about 5 members run up to greet them they knew at least 5 of the members really well. so we are very excited to watch them grow and prepare them for a baptism this next month.  We have another great investigator named Gilda. Hermana VanMeter asked her ¨if you know this is all true what do you need to do¨ ? she said I guess become Mormon. She then called her niece up and said I'm not going to be catholic anymore I'm becoming Mormon. It was so cute.. These are the moments that keep me going . Is to watch people like her see the truth and to watch them realize that there is more in this life and after I love this gospel so much and am so grateful to have been in instruments in the Lords hand with the people here in Chile ..

I received a call the other day about my convert Victor from Antofagasta. His brother Moises was baptized and his sister and Dad have a baptism day for this month. Cesar Aros my HOT FIRE GOLD Investigators from Iquique also was baptized a day after my year mark.. June 30, 2012.. How great is that.. the Lord truly does miracles in our lives when we are obedient and faithful in his work..

July 9th Letter

Hello Family and  Amigos

Wow this week was tough ... We found some really great new people to teach that are really receptive  and are becoming really involved in the lessons. Nidia is from Columbia and is here working in Chile. The old hermanas were getting ready to  let her go as an investigator but with me we went back and taught with the power of the spirit and now she is loving the gospel more. She has been reading the Book of Mormon consistently and is in mosiah 4.. She loves the stories in the book and is dedicated to reading the book before baptism.. So hopefully she will read a little faster so she can be baptized.. We have another great investigator Gilda who read the Plan of Salvation pamphlet and marked up all the parts that she loved and at the end wrote who is this Jose Smith.. haha it was so sweet she told us she couldn't pray about him cause she didn't know anything about him... So we taught her the Restoration yesterday and it answered all her questions... So we are helping her prepare for a baptism..

The people are great here, just no one wants to attend church which is frustrating cause in the chapel is were we all can feel the Spirit the strongest and receive a stronger testimony of this gospel.  We each spoke yesterday and I taught the class after I was stressing out a little but it went great..

RANDOM FACTS IN THE MISSION

 My cold sore is getting better.

My burnt boy hair is starting to grow..

I have been eating  oatmeal and tons of kiwi thanks to a investigator for that last week which is not fun

We have been running our bums off everyday

my strecthy pants are getting a little baggy !!!

 We ran to central to today to mail letters and then ran/walked back and took a 100 pictures of the beautiful city (  paparazzi pictures of people from a far)

We took a bus around the corner then realized it was the wrong one.. very embarrassing

I said ¨thank you¨to the Chilean water guy who doesn't know English

and I'm slacking on replying to emails.. sorry I´m trying
